Mid-summer brings the cherries
of character
pungent with the flavors of life
unlike the unpalatable sweet
of late spring.
Picked in the maturity
of ripeness
their firmness
restrains the juices
which burst forth
when suckled
between palate and tongue.
It is these fruits
of distinction that add
to the bland smoothness
of vanilla
and a drizzle of darkness
that remind of the piquancy
of a perfect lover.
